For the King’s 4 signature shoe, Nike opted for a completely new design that would bring back an old feature to the Nike basketball line. This colorway of the Lebron 4 hit the streets in 2007. In its initial launch in 2006, the LeBron 4 featured Foamposite, a lightweight and durable material that Nike launched in 1997. It had been a few years since Nike used the material in one of its basketball shoes. And there was no better occasion to bring it back than in a shoe for the Chosen One. The ‘Black Crimson’s mostly black upper is contrasted by a pop of Varsity Red on the shoe’s Phylon wave design that blends into the outsole. The shoe is topped off with Zoom Air cushioning underneath for added comfort on the court.
